Design for Dementia
At Tina Davies Childs Interiors all our designers are qualified with a BAHons in interior design, as well as having attended courses at Stirling University qualifying them to design for Dementia. Dementia affects over 850,000 people in the UK with more being diagnosed every day. Tina Davies Childs Interiors can design in way to help Dementia sufferers and families feel more confident and safe with their surroundings.
Tonality of colour (lightness or darkness of colour) and tonal contrast (between colours) is a more important consideration in dementia specific design than the selected colours themselves. Tonal contrast attains significance in the design due to the reduced cognition and visual abilities of residents. Difficulties in identifying interior elements may place residents at risk and reduce their level of independence. Contrast would be used for ease of recognition
